THE WAVES CLUB - ADVANCING ATHLETICS AT PEPPERDINE - RAISE THE WAVES!
To help Pepperdine continue to be competitive at the highest national level, the Waves Club was established by a dedicated group of donors who support the mission of the University and encourage our intercollegiate teams.
The Waves Club is the core group of donors who financially support Pepperdine Athletics and who aim to enhance the growth of the program and the Athletics Department. The Waves Club is led by the Athletic Board, comprised of Waves Club members who are alumni, parents, friends, and staff and who have interest in helping build Pepperdine Athletics programs and facilities. The Waves Club supports multiple events a year including the fellowship-building "Hall of Fame Induction Dinner" in the fall and the WCC Basketball Tournament each March, as well as numerous receptions and friendly gatherings targeted toward Pepperdine teams.
The Pepperdine University Department of Athletics is dedicated to providing support to student-athletes who represent the University in 17 NCAA Division I sports. A Waves Club focus is to assist the Athletic Department Administration in expanding available financial income and gifts to the Department and teams in an effort for coaches to provide the best possible resources to students who wear the Waves uniform today and tomorrow. A Waves Club goal is to encourage alumni, parents and friends to support the programs with gifts that will enhance a tradition of excellence and pride for which Pepperdine Sports have been long recognized.
THE GOALS OF THE WAVES CLUB INCLUDE:
- Provide financial support to Pepperdine's 17 intercollegiate teams.
- Raise fifth-year student-athlete tuition and provide financial aid to cover summer school expenses.
- Purchase state-of-the-art training equipment.
- Extend the ability for coaches to recruit more extensively.
- Improve the Pepperdine experience for every student-athlete.
- Enhance, maintain and construct world-class facilities for competition and training.
- Develop endowed scholarships for teams and the Athletics Department.
THE MANY WAYS TO SUPPORT THE WAVES CLUB - MAJOR AND PLANNED GIVING
The Waves Club accepts cash, checks and credit card contributions as well as securities and real estate which provide immediate help to the athletic teams' operating budgets. Donors may designate their gifts to a team of choice or assist the program through a gift to the Pepperdine Athletics General Fund.
Building Pepperdine Endowed Scholarships help ensure the future of Waves Athletics by establishing funds that provide investment income for scholarships (this program requires a starting commitment of $100,000 or more). Gifts-in-kind, stocks, real estate and bequests are assets that can be donated through the Waves Club as a tax-deductible contribution for the Athletics Scholarship Fund. Charitable Gift Annuities, Charitable Remainder Trusts and Estate Trusts with bequest benefits to the University Athletic Department are excellent planned gifts that assist the University in the area of Major Giving. Matching gifts are made by many companies who encourage their employees to be philanthropic by providing the matching gift benefit. Matching gift forms can be obtained from participating companies and mailed with the donor's contribution.
