MALIBU, Calif. - It's Pepperdine against the Big West Conference this week, as the men's and women's basketball teams have two games apiece against some local opponents. The women host UC Santa Barbara on Tuesday and the men will entertain Cal State Fullerton on Wednesday.
Here's a look at the week's events:
Wednesday: vs. Cal State Fullerton (Firestone Fieldhouse), 7 p.m.
Saturday: at UC Irvine (Irvine, Calif.), 7 p.m.
Tickets: Tickets for home games cost $17 for reserved seats, $14 for general admission and $5 for children's general admission. Tickets are free for Pepperdine students, faculty and staff with a valid Pepperdine ID.
Multimedia: Fans can watch Wednesday's home game for free via WaveCasts, and listen to Saturday's road game. Al Epstein has the call of both games. Links to live stats will also be available at pepperdinesports.com.
Through eight games, the Pepperdine men's basketball team ranks sixth nationally in field goal percentage at 52.5%. The number went up after the Waves set a Great Alaska Shootout record of 60.0% over three games, and that included a 71.4% performance against Denver, the second-best mark in school history. Brendan Lane was named to the Great Alaska Shootout's all-tournament team. Pepperdine will try to keep the hot shooting intact this week against the Titans and Anteaters. The home game against Cal State Fullerton will be the Waves' only home game in almost a four-week span.
Tuesday: vs. UC Santa Barbara (Firestone Fieldhouse), 7 p.m.
Friday: at UC Riverside (Riverside, Calif.), 7 p.m.
Tickets: Tickets for home games cost $8 for adults and $5 for alumni, children, seniors and students. Tickets are free for Pepperdine students, faculty and staff with a valid Pepperdine ID.
Multimedia: Fans can watch Tuesday's home game for free via WaveCasts, and listen to Friday's road game. Josh Perigo has the call of both games. Links to live stats will also be available at pepperdinesports.com.
Pepperdine fans finally have another chance to see the Waves in action on Tuesday night. The women's basketball team has played six of its first seven games on the road. The one and only home game was a rout over UC Irvine, so the Waves will hope to repeat that type of performance against the Gauchos on Tuesday. December brings a little more balance to the schedule, as Pepperdine will home for three of its next four contests. Four Waves are averaging in double-figures, including Bria Richardson's team-high 16.6 points and Allie Green, who's coming off a season-best 27-point effort at Long Beach State.
