Jonathan Rahaeuser placed fifth out of 63 runners in the men's 1,500 meters to highlight the Pepperdine track teams' second-day performances at the North Florida Spring Break Invitational on Saturday.
Rahaeuser, who set the school record in the event last year, ran 4:02.90 at Hodges Stadium.
On the women's side, the top Pepperdine finishers in each event were freshman Syrii Daniel (Yucaipa, Calif./Yucaipa HS) in the 200 meters, freshman Brynn Henderson (Franktown, Colo./Valor Christian HS) in the 400-meter hurdles and freshman Stasia Demick (Seattle, Wash./Holy Names Academy) in the 1,500 meters.
Daniel (400 meters), Demick (800 meters) and Rahaeuser (5,000 meters) doubled as the Waves' top finishers in events held on Friday.
Pepperdine spent the better part of a week in Florida, first working at the Hope Children's Home in Tampa, Fla., as part of Project Serve before moving up to Jacksonville for the track meet.
Pepperdine's next meet is at Cal State Fullerton's Ben Brown Invitational next Saturday (March 9).
