The 2012-13 school years marks the fourth year that former Olympian Samantha (Davies) Clayton has been an assistant coach with the Pepperdine track program, and her first working with the cross country teams.

Clayton represented England in the 2000 Sydney Olympics in both the 200m race and the 4x100 meter relay. Prior to the Olympics, she won two medals in the Olympics AAA trials - a silver medal for the 200m and a bronze for the 100m - as well as a silver medal in the 4x100m relay during the European Junior Championships.

Her personal records include an 11.40 in the 100m and 23.02 in the 200m.

Earlier in her career, Clayton set records in the 100m and 200m with U17 Solihull (UK) Track Team and later competed with the Birchfield Harriers for several years. In 1996, Clayton was honored as one of Birchfield's top athletes for placing first in the 100m, 200m, 4x100 and 4x00m relays and was named European Club Champion MVP.

A 1998 graduate from the Matthew Boulton College of Higher Education, Clayton earned an academic scholarship and worked as a research assistant for Huntsman Surface Science. While training for the 2000 Olympics, she earned her graduate degree in applied chemistry from Wolverhampton University.

Clayton is a Certified Personal Trainer and Group Exercise Coach through AFAA, American Fitness and Aerobics Association.

Clayton is the wife of former Major League baseball player Royce Clayton, and sister to two-time Olympic bobsledder Jackie Davies. Her youngest sister, Maggie, is a world class skeleton racer.

She and her husband have four children: Royce Jr. and triplets Niya, Elijah and Imani.
