Both the men's and women's teams had large graduating classes depart the program.
Rick Glenn, with more than 30 years of cross country and track and field coaching experiences, spent fall 2012 as a cross country assistant coach.
Glenn holds a USATF level one certification in track and field and cross country for all events, and a level two certification in sprints, relays and hurdles.
Just one year out of high school, Glenn began as a coach for Woodbridge High School's youth program in Irvine, Calif. He later went on to coach for a combined eight years at Los Alamitos High School and Huntington Beach High School.
He moved to the collegiate level in 2010, serving as an assistant coach to both the cross country and track and field squads at Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Fla. Several school records fell while Glenn mentored the Moccasins, and in 2011 the men's track team achieved a #1 regional ranking. The women also experienced success, reaching as high as #3 in the regional rankings.
Glenn took over as head men's and women's track and field coach at the University of South Carolina - Beaufort prior to the 2012 season. In addition to increasing the team's size through proactive recruitment, Glenn produced one Sun Conference champion and two all-conference performers.
An avid runner and road racer himself, Glenn has competed in numerous dual athlete (running and cycling) events. He was the 2004 winner of the Malibu Scramble Adventure Race in a time of 17 hours, 23 minutes. He has been an instructor/clinician for Runners Workshop since 2002.
Glenn received his bachelor's degree in business management in 1991 from the University of Phoenix and also has a master's degree in education from the University of Phoenix.
