Twelve Waves Earn WCC All-Academic Honors for Cross Country

Lauren Lodge, a senior who was the Waves' top finisher at last weekend's WCC Championships, is the first Pepperdine woman to earn three-time first team all-academic honors.

PEPPERDINE 2011: WCC All-Academic honorable mention ... WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll "gold" honors ... Pepperdine Scholar-Athlete ... Competed in five races as a junior ... Was Pepperdine's #7 finisher at the first two races of the season ... Had a season-best 5k time of 19:38 at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational and a 6k of 25:27 at the Stanford Invitational.

PEPPERDINE 2010: Did not compete as a sophomore.

PEPPERDINE 2009: Did not compete as a freshman.

HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Liberty High School, located in Renton, Wash., in 2009 ... Ran four years of cross country and competed for three years on the track team ... A team captain as a senior ... Graduated in the top 10 percent of her class and was a National Merit Commended Scholar.

PERSONAL: Born in Darmstadt, Germany ... Daughter of Troy and Camie Goodman ... Has two siblings, Tucker and Mason ... A grandfather, Gene Sampley, played football at Washington ... Majoring in art ... Studied at Pepperdine's Heidelberg campus and was able to explore the country where she was born ... Chose Pepperdine "for the location and the Christian affiliation."

FAVORITES: Also enjoys horseback riding, hiking, painting and reading ... Favorites include Kara Goucher (pro athlete), Seabiscuit (book), My Big Fat Greek Wedding (movie), Project Runway (TV show), Rascal Flatts (musical artist), her mother's pie (food) and horseback riding (sport other than running) ... Favorite things about cross country are "the feeling of accomplishment after a good run and the adventures on trail runs."
