Running a 10K for the first time this season, senior Jonathan Rahaeuser (Irvine, Calif./Calvary Chapel HS) ended his career with yet another outing where he led the Waves to the finish line. He came in 156th place overall with a time of 32:54.62. It was the sixth time in seven meets this season where Rahaeuser was the top finisher for Pepperdine.
In the women's 6K, senior Hayley Lytle (Huntington Beach, Calif./Huntington Beach HS) took 137th overall with a time of 22:08.55. Since returning to the team in midseason, Lytle finished first among the Waves in each of her three races. Though listed as a senior, Lytle may return to the team in 2013 and use her final season of eligibility.
"This was a great experience for both teams," Pepperdine Coach Robert Radnoti said. "It had been raining in Seattle but it stopped, and so although it was cold, there were almost perfect conditions for cross country. The race course was awesome, the grass was green and beautiful, and it was ideal conditions for the Pacific Northwest.
"Hayley and Katie both ran very nice races. They ran very strong. Jonathan closed out his college career with a really nice PR. He finished very strong. I'm very proud of everything that he's brought to the team for the last four years, his running and leadership has been really awesome. Jordan also did well in his first 10K, and that bodes well for his future."
Pepperdine is the host school for the 2013 West Coast Conference Championships.
