They'll join a cross country squad that has six of the top eight runners from last year's WCC Championships returning.
May 30, 2014
MALIBU, Calif. - Pepperdine cross country and track coach Robert Radnoti announced his 10-woman recruiting class for 2014-15 today. Three will compete in both sports, while seven are track-only.
Joining the Waves are Terra Atwood (Mission Viejo, Calif./Mission Viejo HS), Madison Blume (Glendora, Calif./St. Lucy's Priory HS), Jordan Buckwald (Flagstaff, Ariz./Flagstaff HS), Madi Hays (Fort Collins, Colo./Fossil Ridge HS), Sarah Landers (Vancouver, Wash./Columbia River HS), Tori Lopez (Colorado Springs, Colo./Air Academy HS), Samm Lund (Ripon, Calif./Ripon HS), Claudia Rodriguez (Nashville, Tenn./Hume-Fogg Academic Magnet HS), Chandler Smith (Placentia, Calif./El Dorado HS) and Amanda Stark (Fountain Valley, Calif./Fountain Valley HS).
"We have a strong group of women that have committed to Pepperdine for this fall," Radnoti said. "The three women joining the cross country team will be led by Amanda Stark. She's a great runner with fast times who's also a Regent Scholar and I'm expecting her to contribute to the team right away. Our other two, Terra Atwood and Chandler Smith, come from Southern California and are used to the rigors of top competition. I believe they can both respond and push for a spot in our top seven.
"I am very pleased to be adding seven track athletes for Coach `V' (Venus Jewett) to develop over the next four years. Each is very strong athletically and academically and we look forward to most of our sprints and hurdles records being broken by this outstanding group of runners in the next few years."
