Pepperdine Defeats Alumni 3-1 in John Scolinos Alumni Game

MALIBU, Calif. – Pepperdine plated three runs in the fourth inning and pitched well throughout in taking a 3-1 victory in the 2013 John Scolinos Alumni Game on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at Eddy D. Field Stadium.

Austin Davidson (Oxnard, Calif./Oxnard HS) and Aaron Brown (Chatsworth, Calif./Chatsworth HS) each produced run scoring doubles in the fourth inning. Davidson drove in Hutton Moyer (San Diego, Calif./Cathedral Catholic HS), who reached on a two-base error to open the bottom of the frame. Brown scored on a wild pitch.

Defending West Coast Conference Player of the Year Joe Sever homered to left to get the Alumni on the board in the sixth.

Both sides got impressive pitching performances. The Alumni retired nine straight Waves to open the contest. Greg Ramirez, Brett Hunter, Patrick Ahearne sat down the side in order.

Freshman RHP Jackson McClelland (Beaumont, Calif./Redlands East Valley HS) tossed 6.0 innings for the win, allowing one run off two hits with three strikeouts. Mat Snider (Los Altos, Calif./Los Altos HS) threw 2.0 innings for the save and struck out a pair.

Pepperdine opens defense of its WCC Championship when it welcomes Western Michigan to Malibu for a four-game series beginning Friday, February 15. First pitch in the 2013 season opener against the Broncos is set for 2:00 p.m. in a game featuring a live video broadcast via WaveCasts.
