Malibu, Calif. - Behind a strong start from Corey Miller and three-hit performances from Zach Vincej and Aaron Brown, the Waves blanked Fresno State to pick up the series win Sunday at Eddy D. Field Stadium.

Miller (Laguna Niguel, Calif./JSerra HS) went seven scoreless for the Waves (6-2) , scattering three hits and striking out four Bulldogs (4-4) to pick up the win, his second of the season.

The Waves banged out 11 hits and bunched their runs together, scoring all six in the second through fifth innings. Much of the damage was done by Vincej (Saugus, Calif./Saugus HS) and Brown (Chatsworth, Calif./Chatsworth HS), who finished with three hits and an RBI each. James Grandpre (Lancaster, Calif./Desert Christian HS) and Matt Forgatch(San Marino, Calif./Denison University) also chipped in with RBI singles.

After each pitcher retired the opposing side in order in the first, the Bulldogs threatened in the top of the second, starting the inning with back-to-back singles. Miller pitched out of the jam, though, getting first baseman Jordan Brink to hit into a 6-4-3 double play turned beautifully by Waves second baseman Joe Sever(San Jose, Calif./Bellarmine College Prep). Miller then got a fly ball out to end the inning and cruised the rest of the way.

The Waves were able to push across a run in the bottom half, when Brown hit a one-out single and subsequently advanced all the way to third on an errant pickoff throw from Bulldog starter Thomas Harlan. Grandpre drove him in with a two-out single through the left side of the infield to give the Waves the lead at 1-0.

After plating an unearned run in the bottom of the third, the Waves pushed their lead to 3-0 with another run in the fourth. Brown and Bryan Langlois(Oak Park, Calif./Oak Park HS) led off the inning with back-to-back singles, and Vincej drove Brown in with a single.

The Waves put the game well out of reach in a decisive fifth inning, in which Matt Gelalich (La Verne, Calif./Bonita HS) led off with a single and Sever was hit by a pitch. Forgatch and Brown followed with back-to-back RBI singles. After Langlois was hit by a pitch and Grandpre reached on a fielder's choice, Austin Davidson(Oxnard, Calif./Oxnard HS) plated Langlois with a sac fly to put the score at 6-0.

Miller then tossed a couple more zeros before giving way to Andrew Alvarez (Riverside, Calif./Martin Luther King HS) and Michael Swanner(Cardiff, Calif./La Costa Canyon HS), each worked a scoreless inning to close out the game.

The Waves finish out the nine-game homestand as they host USC at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Eddy D. Field Stadium.
