MALIBU, Calif.- The bats woke up Saturday for the first time in the series, but the Waves were unable to match Texas A&M's offensive output, dropping both ends of a double header to the Aggies by scores of 9-2 and 12-5.

Saturday's game one saw the Waves fall behind early, as the Aggies got to Scott Frazier (Upland, Calif./Upland HS) for single runs in the second, third and fourth innings to build a 3-0 lead. The Aggies put the game out of reach in a decisive sixth inning, in which eight hitters went to the plate, producing four runs on four hits, the key blow being a two-out, two-RBI triple by leadoff hitter Mikey Reynolds, which chased Frazier. Freshman righty Mat Snider(Los Altos, Calif./Los Altos HS) came in to strike out Krey Bratsen, but the damage had been done, as the Waves trailed 7-0.

Frazier finished the day with 5.2 innings pitched, giving up seven runs (six earned) on 11 hits and three walks. Snider went the remaining 3.1, giving up two runs (one earned) on a pair of singles and a walk, while tallying four strikeouts.

The Waves got on the board in the seventh, when first baseman Sam Meyer (Los Altos, Calif./St. Francis HS) crushed a first pitch fastball over the fence in right center for a solo home run to put the score at 7-1. The Waves tacked on another run in the eighth courtesy of a two-out single from Zach Vincej (Saugus, Calif./Saugus HS) followed by an RBI double from Austin Davidson(Oxnard, Calif./Oxnard HS). Meyer finished game one 2-4 with the home run. Vincej led the team in the first game, putting in a 3-3 day.

In game two the Waves struck first, as senior left fielder Tony Cooper (San Carlos, Calif./Canada College) led off the second with a single and came around to score on an RBI single from Aaron Brown(Chatsworth, Calif./Chatsworth HS).

The Aggies answered with two in the top of the third to take a 2-1 lead, but the Waves fought back to tie it at two in the fifth. Floyd Given (Rohnert Park, Calif./Sacramento City College) led off the inning with a single, was sacrificed to second, moved over to third on a single from Matt Gelalich(La Verne, Calif./Bonita HS) and came around to score on a sac fly from Vincej.

Again, though, the Aggies answered, pushing two across in the sixth and three more in the seventh, to take a 7-2 lead. The Waves were able to cut into the lead in the bottom half of the seventh, converting a Miles Silverstein(Calabasas, Calif./Calabasas HS) leadoff single into a two-run inning, making the score 7-4.

However, that would be as close as the Waves would get, as the Aggies pushed five more across in the last two innings to bring their run total to 12. Joe Sever(San Jose, Calif./Bellarmine College Prep) drove in Vincej with a two-out single in the ninth to bring the score to 12-5. Sever finished the day 3-5.

Starter Corey Miller(Laguna Niguel, Calif./JSerra HS) went 5.1 innings, allowing four runs on eight hits with five strikeouts in the loss.

The Waves are in action Tuesday, as they head north to face the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos in a 3 p.m. game--their last before beginning West Coast Conference play next weekend.
