Sam Meyer Named West Coast Conference Player of the Week
Meyer Helped Waves to First 4-0 Start Since 2001

MALIBU, Calif. - Pepperdine's Sam Meyerled the Waves offensively to a four-game sweep of Western Michigan to open the 2013 season and captured the inaugural West Coast Player of the Week honors as released today by the league office. Meyer (Los Altos, Calif./St. Francis HS) hit .467 (7-15) with three doubles, a home run and eight RBI in helping Pepperdine to its first 4-0 start since 2001.
During the series against the Broncos, Meyer drove in at least one run in each game, including a season-high four in game two of the series Saturday and had at least one extra base hit in each game. In the early going, Meyer is hitting .467 with a team-high .867 slugging percentage. It is the first WCC Player of the Week honor for the senior first baseman.
