Pepperdine Quotes

Head Coach Steve Rodriguez

"I think if you're going to have a regional those are two great games to start it off with. When we found out we were facing Missouri it was a little surprising for us, but at the same time we understand that it's the postseason. We have to play well regardless of who they throw against us. I think we did a pretty good job."

On what was going on in the head at the end of the game:
"He had a 13 pitch-at-bat the guy [Trevor Helms] had. It's just impressive when players can do that. He did the same thing at the beginning of the game. We knew exactly what kind of hitter he was in regards that he was just trying to put the ball in play and he did. We had a decent shift on him and Denny Duron made a heck of a play."

On the pitching:
"All we ask our pitchers to do is give us a chance to get into the seventh inning. Because if we're up one or down one; up two or down two, at least we know we still have a chance and that's the most we can ask out of them-try not to give up a big inning and keep us in the game through seven. If we can do that then I like our chances."

Second Baseman Denny Duron

On the feel of the game:
"It was my first regional game so I had a few butterflies, but once you get out there you don't think about it. You think about doing it for your team and it all kind of went away. It went well for us today; it felt good out there."

Missouri Quotes

Head Coach Tim Jamieson

"I was pleased with the way we battled today and just came up short."

"Max [Scherzer] did a great job. We had opportunities to score early but their guy [Barry Enright] did a good job. We need to come out tomorrow ready to play."

On Trevor Helms' at-bats:
"The first at-bat and the last at-bats were great at-bats. That's all you can ask him to do."

Starting Pitcher Max Scherzer

"I didn't throw first pitch strikes at all today. It was just one of those days."
