Teams were selected via a player draft and both teams will be coached by Pepperdine players. Kolten Yamaguchi (Kona, Hawaii/Konawaena HS) will manage the Orange team, while fellow catcher James Grandpre (Lancaster, Calif./Desert Christian HS) will once again manage the Blue squad. Right-hander Corey Miller (Laguna Nigel, Calif./Junipero Serra HS) will serve as pitching coach for the Orange, while right-hander Scott Frazier (Upland, Calif./Upland HS) will work with the Blue staff.

Both members of the Waves starting rotation in 2012, Miller and Frazier will both start game one for their respective teams. Miller posted a team-best 8-3 record with a 3.38 ERA in 101.1 innings and struck out 67. Frazier was 7-5 with a 3.93 ERA with 69 strikeouts in 103.0 innings.

The Blue and Orange World Series will be the first chance for Waves fans to catch a glimpse of the 2011 recruiting class that was ranked 16th by Baseball America. Freshman outfielder/pitcher Aaron Brown (Chatsworth, Calif./Chatsworth HS) and infielder Austin Davidson(Oxnard, Calif./Oxnard HS), both 2011 MLB draft picks headline the standout class.

Head Coach Steve Rodriguez enters his 10th year at the helm. During his time in Malibu he has led the Waves to four WCC titles, including three consecutive (2004-06) and six NCAA postseason appearances in the last nine years.
