MALIBU, Calif. --- Pepperdine Head Coach Steve Rodriguez announced the signing of outfielder Josh Davis to a National Letter of Intent this week. Davis is a 6-2 right-hander hailing from Union High School in Tulsa, Okla.
Davis was a .455 hitter at Union this past season, smacking four homers and driving in 25 runs for the Redskins. He also tallied a .538 on base percentage and slugged .545.
“Josh is a tremendous athlete,” said Rodriguez. “His speed alone will be very valuable to our program. We are excited to reunite him with some of his former Team USA teammates. As a multisport athlete in high school, it will be great to see him focus on one sport and see the progress he will make immediately.”
Davis is rated the No. 8 prospect in the state of Oklahoma by Perfect Game and is a top 100 outfielder nationally.
Over the course of his three years as a varsity standout, Davis was a bronze medalist with the USA Baseball 14U National Team and was named both WWBA All-Tournament and All-American honorable mention by Perfect Game.
“Pepperdine provides me with an excellent opportunity to obtain a world class education and the baseball program has the coaching and chemistry capable of winning at the highest level,” said Davis of why he chose to come to Malibu.
Davis played his club ball for the Saint Louis Gamers and Sandlot Chicago White Sox scout team. He was also a two sport athlete, earning accolades as a basketball player as well. Davis was named to the Tulsa Metro Baseball Academic Team also.
