This is the first time on the WCC All-Academic team for Kramer and Lane, as both are transfer students.
Kramer (Frieberg, Germany/Cuesta CC), a senior forward who holds a 4.0 GPA in economics, was named Pepperdine basketball's first-ever Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-American last week. He was selected to the third team. Kramer is averaging 4.3 points and 1.4 rebounds, and he ranks seventh in the WCC in three-point percentage (.426).
Lane (Rocklin, Calif./UCLA) is a graduate student with a 3.53 GPA in applied finance. A starting forward, Lane is averaging 13.3 points and 7.5 rebounds, and is leading the WCC in blocked shots with 2.4 per game. His 68 blocks this season ranks tied for third on the Waves' single-season records list.
To be considered for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must have a 3.2 grade-point average or better, have at least sophomore standing and appear in a minimum of 50 percent of a team's games.
In addition to Kramer and Lane, the 10-member WCC All-Academic first team consists of Drew Barham (Gonzaga), Julian Clarke (Santa Clara), Johnny Dee (San Diego), Gavin Hoffman (San Francisco), Nick Kerr (San Diego), Beau Levesque (Saint Mary's), Ryan Nicholas (Portland) and Thomas van der Mars (Portland).
This is the fourth time in the last five years that Pepperdine has put multiple student-athletes on the men's basketball first team.
Kramer, Lane and fellow senior Nikolas Skouen will be honored during a pregame ceremony before Saturday night's regular-season finale against Santa Clara, which tips at 5 p.m. The game can be seen on TheW.tv.
