Men's Hoops Opens Great Alaska Shootout vs. Green Bay
Pepperdine will be making its second-ever appearance at the Great Alaska Shootout.

MALIBU, Calif. - The Pepperdine men's basketball team will open the 2013 Great Alaska Shootout with a matchup against Green Bay on Thanksgiving Day, as the University of Alaska Anchorage announced the bracket today.
The eight-team tournament also includes Denver vs. Harvard in the other half of the Waves' bracket. The top half features Tulsa vs. Indiana State and TCU vs. Alaska Anchorage.
The first two first-round games will be played on Wednesday, Nov. 27. The Waves-Phoenix and Pioneers-Crimson contests will be on Thursday, Nov. 28. The tournament continues through Friday and Saturday with each team playing a total of three games.
This will be the second meeting between Pepperdine and Green Bay. The Phoenix won at home, 57-49, during the 1996-97 season. Green Bay went 18-16 this past season and played in the postseason CollegeInsider.com Tournament.
The Waves will be making their second-ever appearance at the Great Alaska Shootout. They took part in the inaugural event back in 1978 (when it was known as the (Seawolf Classic), and beat 10th-ranked Indiana in the first round before finishing in third place.
