WCC Basketball Schedules Announced
The women play their first WCC home game on Dec. 28 and the men have their first WCC home game on Jan. 4.
MALIBU, Calif. – The 2017-18 West Coast Conference basketball schedules have been released, revealing the complete slates for both the Pepperdine men’s and women’s basketball teams.
WCC play begins on Dec. 28 with the men on the road at Santa Clara and the women at home against Santa Clara. The men’s and women’s schedules are mirrored this season, with the teams playing the same opponents on the same days, just with one being on the road and the other at home.
As was the case last year, in order to start conference play after Christmas, the league has condensed the conference schedule from 10 weeks to nine. Unlike previous years, there won’t be a bye date, and teams won’t necessarily play twice at home or twice on the road, or maintain a travel partner.
The Pepperdine men’s and women’s squads have both a home and road game in each of the last five weeks of the season this year, concluding the regular season with the men at home against Portland on February 24 and the women on the road against the Pilots. The women play their final home game on February 22 against Saint Mary’s.
The men open the new year with a marquee home matchup against conference champs and national runners-up Gonzaga on January 4, and then host NCAA Tournament participant Saint Mary’s on January 13, PCH Cup rival Loyola Marymount on January 25 and a BYU squad that made last year’s NIT field on February 15.
The women host BYU on January 11 and then host conference champs Gonzaga (Feb. 17) and third-place Saint Mary’s (Feb. 22) in back-to-back games late in the season. The Waves host PCH Cup rival LMU on February 10.
The WCC Tournament for both the men and women will once again be held in Las Vegas, Nev. at the Orleans Arena, March 1-6.
The men’s basketball home dates are as follows: Gonzaga (Jan. 4), San Francisco (Jan. 6), Saint Mary’s (Jan. 13), Loyola Marymount (Jan. 25), Santa Clara (Jan. 27), Pacific (Feb. 3), San Diego (Feb. 8), BYU (Feb. 15), Portland (Feb. 24).
The women’s basketball home dates are as follows: Santa Clara (Dec. 28), San Diego (Dec. 30), BYU (Jan. 11), Pacific (Jan. 18), San Francisco (Jan. 20), Portland (Feb. 1), Loyola Marymount (Feb. 10), Gonzaga (Feb. 17), Saint Mary’s (Feb. 22).
