Men's Golf Begins Play at Two Southern California Tournaments
The Prestige at PGA West has two rounds left, while the Folino Invitational will finish on Tuesday.

MALIBU, Calif. - Eight Pepperdine's men's golfers got two separate Southern California tournaments underway on Monday.
A full lineup went to the Prestige at PGA West, being held at the par-71 Greg Norman Course in La Quinta, Calif. Playing against a strong field that includes eight of Golfstat's top 50 teams, the Waves are in 12th place after an opening-round 306. The second and third rounds are on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.
Senior Jeremy Sanders (Chatsworth, Calif./New Community Jewish HS/Redlands) is tied for 47th place after a 75, sophomore David Pelekoudas (Irvine, Calif./University HS/Orange Coast CC) is tied for 52nd at 76, sophomore Frederick Wedel (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands HS) is tied for 59th at 77, junior Kevin DeHuff (Coto de Caza, Calif./Santa Margarita Catholic HS) is tied for 61st at 78 and sophomore Nick Thomas (Westlake Village, Calif./Chaminade College Prep/California) is tied for 63rd at 79.
Sanders had a team-high two birdies during the round.
Playing as an individual, freshman Ian Mankoff (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest HS) is tied for 63rd at 79.
Meanwhile, over in the City of Industry, two more Waves took part as individuals at the Folino Invitational, being held at the par-72 Industry Hills Golf Club.
Freshman Robin Kang (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif./South Torrance HS) got off to a great start, firing an even-par 72 that included six birdies during the morning round that put him into a tie for third place. But he suffered a wrist injury and had to withdraw from the second round.
Sophomore Cameron Davison (Duncan, B.C., Canada/Duncan Christian HS) is tied for 46th place at 164 (79-85). The third and final round is on Tuesday.
