Waves Through Two Rounds of Redhawk Invitational
Frederick Wedel is tied for 11th place to lead the men's golf team.

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. - Led by the play of Frederick Wedel, the Pepperdine men's golf team opened up the Redhawk Invitational in eighth place on Monday.
The Waves shot 283-288 for a total of an 11-over 571 during the 36-hole day at the par-70 Chambers Bay course. The third and final round is Tuesday.
Wedel (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands HS), a sophomore, is tied for 11th place with a 1-under 139 (72-67). He had five birdies during his first round. During the second round, he shot 3-under. Over his first nine holes he had one bogey and eight pars. Over the final eight holes he had four birdies and five pars.
Senior Jeremy Sanders (Chatsworth, Calif./New Community Jewish HS/Redlands) had an excellent morning, as a 3-under 67 put him into a tie for second place after the first round. After a 75 in the afternoon, however, he's tied for 21st place at 142. He had five birdies during his first round.
Sophomore Nick Thomas (Westlake Village, Calif./Chaminade College Prep/California) is tied for 40th place at 146 (72-74), junior Kevin DeHuff (Coto de Caza, Calif./Santa Margarita Catholic HS) is tied for 53rd at 148 (76-72) and freshman Robin Kang (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif./South Torrance HS) is tied for 77th at 153 (72-81). Kang had five birdies on the day and DeHuff and Thomas had four apiece.
This is the final regular-season event for the Waves, who will be back in Washington to play in the West Coast Conference Championships next week (April 14-16) at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash.
