EUGENE, Ore. - Pepperdine sophomore Frederick Wedel recorded four birdies during Friday's second round of the NCAA Men's Golf Regional being hosted by the University of Oregon, but unfortunately couldn't make any dent on the leaderboard.
Wedel (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands HS) is tied for 65th place with a total of 156 (79-77) at the par-72 Eugene Country Club. He earned a spot as an individual at the regional after leading the Waves with a 72.97 stroke average and receiving All-West Coast Conference honorable mention honors.
Wedel's day began with a birdie on 10. He also had one on 14 and then had consecutive birdies on 18 and 1. Unfortunately, he also had four double-bogeys on the day.
Wedel will conclude the event on Saturday when he tees off the 10th hole at 9:20 a.m. For Wedel to advance to the NCAA Championships, he would need to be the low-scoring player among the non-qualifying teams and other individuals (the top five teams move on).
