Jeremy Sanders and Johnny Mac Arthur posted their best rounds of the fall season, helping the Pepperdine men's golf team to a 3-under 285 during the second round of the Warrior Wave Princeville Intercollegiate on Tuesday.
The tournament is being co-hosted by Pepperdine and Hawai'i at the par-72 Makai Golf Club at the St. Regis Princeville Resort. Tuesday's strong showing wasn't enough to move the Waves out of sixth place, however, where they have a total of an even-par 576 (291-285). They're nine shots behind the leader and six strokes out of second heading into Wednesday's final round.
After an even-par 72, freshman Frederick Wedel (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands) remains the top Wave on the leaderboard. He's tied for seventh place with a 3-under 141 (69-72). He was 2-over at the turn today but posted four birdies on the back nine.
After a 3-under 69 by Sanders (Chatsworth, Calif./New Community Jewish HS/Univ. of Redlands) and a 2-under 70 by Mac Arthur (Newhall, Calif./Hart HS), both Waves are now tied for 12th place with 1-under 143s. Sanders, a junior, began his round with consecutive birdies on the second, third and fourth holes and added two more on the back nine. Mac Arthur, a senior, posted a total of six birdies on the day, four on the back nine.
Junior Parker Page (Louisville, Ky./Ballard HS) is tied for 40th place at 149 (75-74) and sophomore Kevin DeHuff (Coto de Caza, Calif./Santa Margarita Catholic HS) is in 74th at 158 (83-75). Page posted four birdies, all over his final nine holes.
