All-American Michael Putnam Ties For Individual Medalist Honors At Oregon Duck Invitational

Eugene, Ore. - Senior Michael Putnam carded a final-round even-par 72 to tie for individual medalist honors at the Oregon Duck Invitational that concluded Tuesday at the par-72, 6,854-yard Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Oregon.

Washington's James Lepp turned in a third-round score of 3-under 69 to tie Putnam at 8-under par 208. Putnam and Lepp finished two strokes ahead of Georgia Tech's Roberto Castro, who placed third at 6-under 210.

Lepp's 69 helped propel Washington to the team title as the Huskies posted a 2-under par 286 and registered a 54-hole total of 4-under 860. Washington, which entered the day two-shots off the lead, recorded a six-stroke victory over Nevada and San Diego, which tied for second at 2-over par 866.

Pepperdine shot a final-round 6-over 294 and fell a spot to seventh place.

Putnam captured individual medalist honors for the first time this season and third time in his career. The Tacoma, Washington native previously won the 2001 and 2003 West Coast Conference (WCC) Championships.

Pepperdine resumes its schedule next Monday (March 27) when it begins play in the N.I.T. Invitational at the Tucson National Golf Club in Tucson, Arizona.
