Pepperdine Golfers Michael Putnam, Brian O'Flaherty Receive All-American Accolades

Junior Michael Putnam, who placed fourth at last week's NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships in Hot Springs, Virginia, was named a second team PING All-American by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA), it was announced on Monday. Junior Brian O'Flaherty received honorable mention recognition.
Putnam concluded his junior campaign with 71.00 stroke average and was ranked No. 22 in the final Golftstat. rankings. He had nine Top 10 finishes in 16 events and claimed individual medalist honors at The Club Glove Intercollegiate.
Putnam, who was an honorable mention All-American as a sophomore in 2003, was selected to play in the presigious Western Refining College All-American Golf Classic in El Paso, Texas, last November and was chosen to the Fuji Xerox U.S.A. Team that will compete against Japan at the Japan Collegiate Golf Championship July 13-16 at Taiheiyou Club Ichihara Course in Chiba, Japan.
The 12-member squad, selected by the GCAA, will consist of eight men's and four women's collegiate players.
Putnam was also named to the GCAA's Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar Team on Monday.
O'Flaherty concluded his third year at Pepperdine with a 74.02 stroke average and tied for 36th at the NCAA Championships.
