Theegala Earns WCC Golfer of the Month Honor
It's Sahith Theegala's third time winning this award.
MALIBU, California – Sahith Theegala of the Pepperdine men’s golf team earned the West Coast Conference’s first Player of the Month award of the 2017-18 season and the third of his career today.
Theegala (Chino Hills, Calif./Diamond Bar HS), who was an All-American and the co-WCC Player of the Year last season, got his junior campaign off to a good start in September against tremendous competition with a third-place finish at the Gopher Invitational and a tie for 24th place at the Trinity Forest Invitational.
Theegala averaged 70.33 strokes at the two tournaments. Four of his six rounds were below par, and five were either below or at par. The result at the Gopher Invitational was his 20th career top-20 finish, moving him into the Waves’ all-time top 10 in that category. He shot a 6-under 207 (68-70-69) at the Gopher and a 2-over 215 (70-74-71) at Trinity Forest.
The Gopher Invitational included eight schools that played in the 2017 NCAA Championships (and three others that went to regionals) and Trinity Forest had six and three, respectively.
Theegala ranks #1 all-time at Pepperdine in career scoring average (70.83) and is fifth in career below-par rounds (45).
