Begemann Wins Egyptian Futures Tournament

GIZA, Egypt – Recent Pepperdine University graduate Andre Begemann (Blomberg, Germany) captured the title for the Egyptian Futures 4 Tournament in Giza, Egypt, on Sunday afternoon.


“I feel like I’ve been playing really well,” said Begemann. “This is a big win for me and will advance me quite a bit in the rankings.”


Begemann who began his professional tennis career in July after graduating from Pepperdine, advanced past the No. 1 tournament seed Cesar Ferre (ESP), in the second round and went on to defeat No. 8 ranked Anas Fattar (MAR), 6-4, 6-3, to win his second futures tournament this summer. Begemann and his partner Alexandru Cojanu advanced to the semi-finals in the same tournament before being defeated by No. 4 Anas Fattar and Talal Ouahabi (MAR), 6-4, 6-4.


The former Wave standout plans to play in some tournaments in South America before returning to the United States in late September to play some scheduled tournaments.


“I’m really looking forward to returning to the United States to play my first tournaments as a professional there, “said Begemann.
