David Wieczorek led the Waves with 20 kills, tying his career high at Pepperdine.
This will be the first time the Waves face both of these squads.
The Waves ranked No. 5 in the AVCA and MPSF preseason polls earlier this month.
SANTA BARBARA CC/MOORPARK COLLEGE: Attended and played at both Western State Conference schools Santa Barbara Community College in Santa Barbara, Calif. under head coach John Newton and Moorpark College in Moorpark, Calif. under head coach Aaron Hedland … At SBCC, he played in 18 matches, posting 2.26 kills/set on a .132 hitting percentage and adding 0.16 assists/set, 0.45 blocks/set, 0.10 aces/set and 1.88 digs/set … At Moorpark, Yoshimoto earned Team MVP and All-WSC first team honors throughout his time there … He amassed 245 kills, 135 digs and averaged 3.50 kills/set … His best performance came against El Camino in a three-set victory, where he tabbed 13 kills with only three errors for a .417 hitting percentage … He was first on the team in digs/set and third in total digs … Also earned the Scholar-Athlete Award.
CLUB/USA VOLLEYBALL: Was a member of the U.S. Beach Junior National Team for both his U19 and U21 campaigns … Played for Pacific Palisades Volleyball Club at the age of 18 … On the sand, in 2015, Yoshimoto finished 1st at the CBVA Santa Monica/Ocean Park Men’s A Sand Tournament alongside his brother, Matt … In 2014, he collected 1st place at the CBVA Will Rogers State Beach Tournament and 2nd at the CBVA Santa Barbara Tournament … He competed in eight tournaments in the 2013 beach season, finishing 1st in four of them, including CBVA Santa Barbara, CBVA Pacific Palisades twice and CBVA Pismo Beach … In 2013, he finished 4th at the USA Volleyball Hermosa Beach Men’s AA Sand tournament.
HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Adolfo Camarillo High School in Camarillo, Calif. in 2013 … In his senior campaign prior to the CIF-Southern Section championship match, he totaled 170 kills through the squad’s first 21 matches … He was named Pacific View League’s Most Valuable Player and earned All-CIF-SS first team honors, while also picking up The Star’s Boys Volleyball Player of the Year accolades.
