The Waves came out strong in the first set, hitting for a .414 success rate with 15 kills, while allowing the Lopes only five kills on a -.043 clip. After working ahead 10-4 early in the action with kills from Alex Harthaller and a Harthaller, Michael Wexter block effort, the home team gained momentum. The Waves continued to pound down with 6-1 run and worked off the advantage towards an eventual 25-18 set win.

The Antelopes brought a more successful attack front to the table in the second set, amassing an 11-7 lead, but the Waves were close behind and ready to close the gap. After tying the set at 11’s, Pepperdine and Grand Canyon went point-for-point towards a 16-16 tied score. A kill from David Wieczorek and an ace from Harthaller helped the cause and the Waves started inching away to a 20-17 advantage. After some cushion established by a pair of Wieczorek smashes, the Waves had the edge, and final kills from Chamberlain and Harthaller gave Pepperdine the 25-19 set win and 2-0 lead.

The third set was equally matched to begin, with each side reaching 5-5 and 10-10 marks, but Wieczorek and Harthaller got hot from the outside for some kills and Harthaller, Max Chamberlain and Harriman went up for the block to give Pepperdine a 20-14 lead late in the action. Kills from Harriman and a final block from Wexter and Harriman resulted in a 25-20 Waves’ set win to end the game with a 3-0 sweep.
