Harthaller Earns CoSIDA Academic All-American Honors

MALIBU, Calif. – Alex Harthaller of the Pepperdine men’s volleyball team garnered CoSIDA Google Cloud Academic All-American Men’s At-Large first team honors, as released by CoSIDA on Thursday morning.   

Harthaller is the fifth Pepperdine men’s volleyball player to earn CoSIDA Academic All-American honors and he is the first in program history to tab first team acclaim.  The award recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the playing field and in the classroom. 

Harthaller’s (Innsbruck, Austria/Akademischeg Gymnasium/IPFW) earned Academic All-District first team honors which directly nominated him for Academic All-American acclaim.  This is the first Academic All-American honor he has earned throughout his career, while he also garnered an AVCA All-American honorable mention nod for his success on the court this season. 



Harthaller made a big impact in the classroom for the Waves after being named one of five of Pepperdine’s Valedictorians this year.  He maintained a 4.0 after two seasons at Pepperdine while studying International Business.  This season, the Austrian also earned Mountain Pacific Sports Federation All-Academic team honors as well.

On the court, he earned AVCA All-American honorable mention status, an All-MPSF second team nod and picked up MPSF Defensive Player of the Week honors on March 19.  He put up one double-double this season, while marking double-figure kills in 17 separate matches.  This season, he marked 3.07 kills/set on a .269 success rate, while adding 0.36 aces/set, 1.41 digs/set and 0.67 blocks/set.
