Waves Drop Pair on Final Day of 2013 NorCal Tournament
Pepperdine falls to No. 3 Pacific and No. 9 Long Beach State.

BERKELEY, Calif. - Pepperdine wrapped up play in the 2013 NorCal Tournament with a pair of losses to finish in seventh place at the event. The Waves dropped a tough 21-6 decision to No. 3 Pacific, before falling to No. 9 Long Beach State 9-6 in the seventh-place showdown.
Pepperdine simply got steamrolled in the opener against the Tigers and trailed 11-2 at the intermission. The Waves scored four goals in the fourth quarter, but could not dent a big deficit. Jack Harryman (Newport Beach, Calif./Corona del Mar HS) scored a pair of goals to lead Pepperdine.
In the seventh place match, Pepperdine took a 6-5 advantage into the fourth quarter against Long Beach State. The Waves went cold in the final period as the 49ers racked up four unanswered goals for the 9-6 triumph. Marko Madaras (Eger, Hungary/Golden West College) and Luke Hewko (Santa Ana, Calif./Servite HS) each paced Pepperdine offensively with a hat trick.
Pepperdine returns to action when it travels to Westwood, Calif. to take on No. 2 UCLA. Match time against the Bruins is set for 4:00 p.m. at the Spieker Aquatics Center in a contest televised by the Pac-12 Network.
