Waves Play at No. 1 Cal, Aggie Roundup
The Waves head up North for five games this weekend, including one against top-ranked Cal.
This Week: The Pepperdine men's water polo team travels to Berkeley to play top-ranked Cal on Friday, and from there heads to Davis, Calif. to partake in the Aggie Roundup.

Game #11: Saturday (Sept. 16) vs. San Jose State at Woodland Community Swim Center in Woodland, Calif.: No. 8 Pepperdine (9-0, 0-0) vs. San Jose State (1-3, 0-0) at 9:00 a.m.
Game #12: Sunday (Sept. 16) vs. Redlands at Schaal Aquatics Center in Davis, Calif.: No. 8 Pepperdine (9-0, 0-0) vs. Redlands (1-5, 0-0) at 12:00 p.m.
Game #13: Sunday (Sept. 17) vs. UC Davis at at Schaal Aquatics Center in Davis, Calif.: No. 8 Pepperdine (9-0, 0-0) vs. No. 9 UC Davis (4-2, 0-0) at 10:30 a.m.
Game #14: Sunday (Sept. 17) vs. Whittier at Tat Schaal Aquatics Center in Davis, Calif.: No. 8 Pepperdine (4-0, 0-0) vs. Whittier (1-2, 0-0) at 2:00 p.m.
Aggie Roundup: The Aggie Roundup is a two-day tournament hosted by UC Davis. Played at two separate locations, eleven schools send teams, including second-ranked USC, sixth-ranked Long Beach State, and eighth-ranked Pepperdine.
Series vs. California: California 57-14-1 – Cal has had the best of the Waves eavh of the past fifteen meetings between the teams.
Series vs. San Jose State: Pepperdine 11-3 – The Waves and Spartans have played ach of the past two years, and before then, not since 1980. The Waves have won two of the past three meetings.
Series vs. Redlands: Pepperdine 7-0 - The Waves and Bulldogs have met once already this year, with the Waves winning, 9-6.
Series vs. UC Davis: Pepperdine 26-3 - The Waves and Aggies have met each year since 2003, with the Aggies taking the last meeting in 2016.
Series vs. Whittier: Pepperdine 3-0 - The Waves have won the only three times the teams have met.
Last Week: The Waves retained their perfect record, improving to 9-0 on five wins on the weekend. Two came against LMU and UC San Diego in the GCC vs. WWPA Challenge, and three came against Redlands, Concordia, and Claremont Mudd-Scripps in the Inland Empire Classic.
GCC Preseason Poll: Pepperdine was selected to finish tied for fourth in the Preseason GCC poll, alongside UC Santa Barbara. Pacific was selected to win the conference, with Long Beach State selected to finish behind them.
2017 Roster: Pepperdine returns 16 players from its 2016 roster and brings in an eight man freshman roster, along with two players who haven't played in college, but have been in school.
GCC Title: Pepperdine won the inaugural GCC Tournament in 2016. After finishing fourth in the regular season, the Waves went on a three-game hot streak in which they defeated UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbara and Pacific to capture the title.
Terry Schroeder: Terry Schroeder picked up the GCC Coach of the Year to go along with the inaugural title in 2016. This is his third overall Conference Coach of the Year honor, grabbing the PCAA honor in 1989, and the MPSF honor in 1998. He was also the NCAA National Coach of the year in 1997.
