Ayim Named to Canada's Sr. National Development Team

TORONTO, Canada – Canada Basketball announced Monday (July 14) that Pepperdine basketball standout Miranda Ayim was among 11 Canadian nationals named to the 2008 Senior Women’s National Development Team.


“We are very pleased to have had a very competitive pool tryout camp this year,” said Senior Women’s National Team head coach Allison McNeil. “We are happy to have some amazing international competitive opportunities for both our National and development teams this summer and all these athletes will be in the pool competing for a spot on the 2009 FIBA America World Championship qualification team next year.”


Ayim (London, Ontario, Canada) was selected to the 2008 All-WCC first team and the All-WCC Academic team. The talented sophomore led the team in rebounds with 243 for the 2007-08 season.


The Canadian Senior Women’s National Development Team will travel to Shanghai, China (July 18-22) on the eve of the 2008 Olympic Summer games. They will face the Chinese Senior Women’s National Team in a three-game exhibition series.
