MALIBU, Calif. - Pepperdine women's basketball will open the 2013-14 West Coast Conference schedule on the road at San Diego December 28, 2013 and will close the regular season by playing four of its last six games at home as announced today by the league office. The Waves play their WCC home opener Thursday, January 2 against Santa Clara in Firestone Fieldhouse.
With the addition of Pacific and the expansion of the WCC to 10 teams, the conference slate now features an 18-game schedule featuring a double round robin format. Unlike the two previous years when there were nine teams in the conference, schools now have travel partners. Pepperdine and Loyola Marymount will be playing the same teams each weekend. The Waves and Lions will do battle as part of the Wells Fargo PCH Cup at Firestone Fieldhouse Saturday, January 11 and at Gersten Pavilion on Saturday, February 1.
After taking on the Toreros in the opener, Pepperdine travels to Provo to take on Brigham Young (Monday, December 30) and closes the 2013 calendar. The Waves open 2014 by hosting Santa Clara (Thursday, January 2), kicking off a three-game homestand at Firestone Fieldhouse.
Other home highlights include a Saturday matinee against defending WCC regular season champion Gonzaga (January 25) and a home contest against 2013 WNIT Postseason participants Saint Mary's (Saturday, February 15) and BYU (Thursday, February 20). The Waves play their regular season home finale against San Diego (Saturday, February 22), capping a four-game homestand.
The 2014 West Coast Conference Basketball Championships will take place from March 6-11 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
