Women's Hoops Adds Brianna Lester to Roster
The Waves have six other newcomers eligible to play this season under first-year head coach DeLisha Milton-Jones.
Lester comes to Pepperdine via Louisville, where she played one year of volleyball before deciding to return to women’s hoops and transfer to Malibu. She will sit out this season as a transfer and be eligible to play for the Waves in the 2018-19 season.
Brianna Lester – 5-10 – Guard/Forward – Dallas, Texas – Louisville/Richardson HS
Lester was a highly touted two-sport prospect out of Dallas in 2016 before she decided to go the volleyball route and play one season for Louisville in the ACC. As a prep hoops player, she earned recognition as a McDonalds All-American nominee and both an All-City and All-District first team player. She helped lead Richardson to two district championships during her four varsity seasons, averaging better than 14.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per contest in each of her final two seasons. As a standout volleyball player, Lester earned All-District first team recognition, team Offensive Player of the Year and set the school’s blocking record in 2016. The multi-sport star also excelled in the classroom as a member of the National Honor Society and earning All-Academic first team honors.
Coach Milton-Jones on Lester: “Brianna is a very talented all-around athlete. She earned numerous honors and set records during her time as both a basketball and volleyball player in high school. She also played for a terrific club in Summit Nitro, for Coach Brian Meyers, and is a fantastic student, so we are excited about her background and what she brings to our program. Her electric energy and intensity will be a great addition and we are very thrilled to have her as part of the Waves family.”
Lester on why she chose Pepperdine: “I chose Pepperdine because I believed that this school would push me academically as well as on the court.”
