Women's Basketball Hosts Love & Basketball Monday Night

Nov. 6, 2005

MALIBU, Calif. - With the start of the 2005-06 season less than two weeks away, the Pepperdine women's basketball team will host Love & Basketball in an exhibition game at Firetone Fieldhouse in Malibu, Calif. Tip-off for the game is slated for 7 p.m. (PDT) in Malibu, Calif.

This season marks the second for Head Coach Julie Rousseau who guided the Waves to a 12-17 overall record and a 7-7 third-place finish a year ago.

Pepperdine returns just three upperclassmen in senior Kelsey Ball and juniors Jasmane Clarendon and Lauren Wenski.

Also back from last year's squad is All-West Coast Conference (WCC) all-freshman team honoree Daphanie Kennedy, Teiosha George and Shannon Johnson.

The Waves welcome six newcomers to the team this season, five freshmen and one sophomore transfer.

Last year, Love & Basketball held off a late Pepperdine run to claim a 60-48 victory.

George scored a team-high 14 points in the contest, while Wenski added 13 and Jennifer Lacy pitched in 10.

Monday's tilt will serve as one of two exhibition games for the Waves who host Play Mode on Sat., Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. The regular season is scheduled to open on Sat., Nov. 19, in Pullman, Wash., when Pepperdine faces Washington State.
