WBB Signs Prep Standout Robie Mayberry

MALIBU, Calif. - The Pepperdine women's basketball team announced the signing of Bishop O'Dowd High School (Oakland, Calif.) senior Robie Mayberry.

"Robie is an amazing young woman with great character and humility," said Pepperdine Head Women's Basketball Coach Julie Rousseau. "She will come in and positively impact our program immediately with not only her play, but her person. Robie was our biggest priority for the 2010 class and when we received her commitment, we knew we were getting someone special."

The 5-11 perimeter player was a 2008-09 and 2007-08 All-State pick. She was awarded Co-MVP League Player of the Year, her junior year. The highly recruited senior was tabbed All-NorCal her sophomore and junior years as well as making the all-metro team all three years.

"I loved my time with Coach Julie," Mayberry said of her visit to Pepperdine. "She stressed academics and was more interested in who I was as a person than as a player. It was a very different approach."

In her junior season, Mayberry averaged 19.5 points per game with 7.2 rebounds.

"Robie will play on the perimeter and with her vast skill set, she will help everyone else be better," said Rousseau. "She's extremely versatile, high basketball intelligence, a consummate team player, yet a serious scoring threat."
