March 4, 2013
The top of the team leaderboard features a trio of Pac-12 schools. UCLA leads with a 583, followed by USC at 591 and Arizona at 599. The Waves had a strong second round that allowed them to move up after being in a tie for eighth after the morning round. They're at 611 (312-299).
The third and final round begins at 7:30 a.m. with tee times off the #1 and #10 holes at the par-72 El Caballero Country Club.
The first three editions of the Bruin Wave Invitational were won by USC, UCLA and Pepperdine, so any of those three schools could become the first two-time winner.
Also looking to become the first repeat winner in tournament history is UCLA's Lee Lopez. She was the medalist at the 2011 event and is in front again after shooting a 2-under 142. She leads USC's Annie Park by two strokes.
Pepperdine freshman Marissa Chow (Honolulu, Hawaii/Iolani HS) is also within striking distance of the lead, as she leads the Waves with a 1-over 145 (74-71), good for a tie for third place. Her second round consisted of two birdies and just one bogey.
Junior Grace Na (Alameda, Calif./Alameda HS) is tied for sixth place at 148 (74-74). She's looking for her fifth top 10 finish of the 2012-13 season. Na had two birdies in each round. Playing as an individual, junior Liv Cheng (Auckland, New Zealand) is tied for 10th place at 149 (70-79). She had a team-high eight birdies on the day, including five during the first round.
Junior Danielle Gillaspy (Santa Maria, Calif./St. Joseph's HS) is tied for 29th place at 157 (81-76), sophomore Alina Ching (Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou School) is tied for 47th at 161 (83-78) and sophomore Somin Lee (Denver, Colo./Overland HS) is tied for 71st at 168 (85-83).
