Oct. 6, 2013
The Waves put themselves in a hole and were in 13th place after Saturday's first round at the par-70 Belmar Golf Club, but have now climbed to ninth place and are just one shot out of sixth. A 16-shot improvement has given the Waves a total of 602 (309-293), a stroke behind Florida State, Texas State and Kent State, with Monday's third and final round still to come. The Waves' 293 was only beaten by leader LSU and host Oklahoma on Sunday.
Lee had a reversal of fortune, going from not having her score count on Saturday to recording the Waves' low round on Sunday. She moved up 31 spots on the leaderboard and into a tie for 39th place at 153 (82-71). She posted two birdies during her second round.
Chow, tied for 22nd place at 149 (77-72), leads the Waves through two rounds. Cheng is close behind, tied for 34th place at 151 (79-72). Chow had two birdies and nine pars over her final 11 holes. Cheng also had two birdies down the stretch.
The Waves are trying for a third straight team title to open the 2013-14 season (they won New Mexico's Dick McGuire Invitational and the Golfweek Conference Challenge last month). After tomorrow, the Waves' final tournament of the fall is the Stanford Intercollegiate on Oct. 25-27.
