PALO ALTO, Calif. - The Pepperdine women's golf team wrapped up its fall season with a quality fifth-place finish at the Stanford Intercollegiate on Sunday. Marissa Chow tied for 11th place to lead the Waves.
Playing against a quality field that included 10 top-25 teams, the #8 Waves ended up with an 8-over 860 (285-284-291) at the par-71 Stanford Golf Course. Even though their final-round score was a little higher than the previous two, the Waves had built enough of a cushion to end the day in fifth place for the third straight round.
Chow (Honolulu, Hawaii/Iolani HS), a sophomore, ended up leading the Waves for the third time in four fall tournaments. She finished with a 1-under 212 (70-69-73). Chow placed in the top 20 at all four tournaments and had eight below-par rounds out of 12.
Junior Alina Ching (Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou School) posted her second top-20 finish of the fall and tied for 16th place with a 1-over 214 (69-71-74).
Senior Grace Na (Alameda, Calif./Alameda HS) tied for 23rd place with a 3-over 216 (71-73-72), senior Liv Cheng (Auckland, New Zealand) tied for 36th at 219 (75-72-72) and junior Somin Lee (Denver, Colo./Overland HS) tied for 54th at 225 (76-72-77). Na's round began with an eagle on the par-5 first hole. Lee had three birdies, a team high on the day.
Next on Pepperdine's schedule is the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif., on February 9-11.
