No. 3 Pepperdine in Second Place at UCF Challenge

Sparked by three players in the top 15, the third-ranked Pepperdine women's golf team is currently in second place after two rounds of the UCF Challenge that opened Monday at the par-72, 6,223-yard Grand Cypress Golf Club in Orlando, Florida. The Waves have a 36-hole total of 18-over par 594.

Duke is atop the 13-team field that includes 11 teams ranked in the latest Golweek Top 30 poll with a 3-under par score of 573 and holds a 21-shot lead over Pepperdine heading into Tuesday's final round.

Led by Amanda Blumenherst's 7-under par 65, the Blue Devils carded a second-round total of 4-under par 284 to extend its lead over the Waves. Duke held a seven-shot advantage over Pepperdine after 18 holes.

Freshman Misun Cho, who has been the Waves' top player this spring, is tied for second with four other players at 1-over par 145, 10 shots behind Blumenherst, who is at 9-under 135.

Among those tied with Cho for second place is sophomore teammate Nicole Montgomery, who posted scores of 74-71 while playing as an individual.

Senior All-American Eileen Vargas shot an even par 72 during the second round and is among a group of four players tied for seventh place with scores of 3-over par 147. Sophomore Jayvie Agojo is tied for 14th at 5-over par 149.

Georgia is in third place with a 19-over par score of 595 while Vanderbilt (600) and Louisiana State (612) round out the top five.
