MALIBU, Calif. - Pepperdine senior Grace Na earned the West Coast Conference's Women's Golfer of the Month award for the seventh time in her career, the league office announced today.
Na (Alameda, Calif./Alameda HS), a three-time All-American and a three-time WCC Player of the Year, helped the Waves to two team victories in September and won her fifth career tournament at the Golfweek Conference Challenge.
She shot under-par in five of her six rounds (and was at even-par for the other round) and averaged 71.00 strokes per round. At the end of the month in the early computer rankings, Na was seventh nationally by Golfweek/Sagarin.
Na's senior season began with a fifth-place finish with a 3-under 216 (73-71-72) at New Mexico's Dick McGuire Invitational, which the Waves won by 12 strokes. She then was the medalist at Golfweek's event with a 6-under 210 (71-71-68), and Pepperdine won that tournament by 36 shots. Na was named Golfweek's national player of the week after her victory.
Na features prominently in Pepperdine's records book. Including the just-completed Schooner Fall Classic, Na currently holds the #1 spot on the school's career average list (73.17) and is second place in victories (five), second in below-par rounds (29), seventh in top 10 finishes (16) and seventh in top 20 finishes (25).
The Waves complete their fall season at the Stanford Intercollegiate on October 25-27.
