Lynn Williams Named to MAC Hermann Award Watch List
Junior Forward Competed for the U.S. Women's National U-23 Team

MALIBU, Calif. – After an outstanding sophomore campaign and a successful stint with the U.S. Women’s National U-23 Team, Lynn Williams earned a spot on the 2013 MAC Hermann Preseason Watch List as unveiled by the NSCAA today. This marks the second straight season the Waves have placed a candidate on the list for the highest individual award in all of college soccer.
“We're very excited for Lynn as she has worked incredibly hard on elevating her game,” Pepperdine head coach Tim Ward said. “She is no doubt a special talent and she continues to get better and better. One of my favorite qualities about Lynn is her humility. She’ll understand this nomination for what it is: a compliment to both her and our program.”
Williams (Fresno, Calif./Bullard HS) captured All-West Region selection for the second straight season as a sophomore after earning second team honors as a freshman. An All-WCC First Team pick in 2012, Williams led the league in shots (97/4.62), ranked tied for sixth in goals (8) and shared ninth in points (19). In a 2-1 league victory at San Francisco (10/7), Williams established the program record for most shots in a single match with 10.
A Soccer America Freshman All-American, Williams recorded her first career hat trick against Saint Mary’s (11/1) and registered three game-winners, two coming in WCC play: against No. 17 Santa Clara (10/14) and at Gonzaga (10/28).
“Lynn is really becoming very comfortable with who she is and the role she needs to play for our program,” Ward said. “There is no arrogance in her. She is simply a strong, powerful, intelligent and selfless leader for our team determined to achieve both her goals and more importantly, help Pepperdine soccer reach its goals. So in light of these things, we are very pleased for both Lynn and Pepperdine soccer for this wonderful recognition.”
All-American Michelle Pao (Cupertino, Calif./Monta Vista HS) earned a spot on the preseason watch list last season and returns for her senior campaign with the Waves.
