Lynn Williams Named WCC Player of the Week
Williams leads the Waves with six points through four games this season.
MALIBU, Calif. – After leading the Pepperdine women’s soccer team to a 2-0 week, the Waves’ Lynn Williams picked up West Coast Conference Player of the Week honors on Monday.
Williams (Fresno, Calif./Bullard HS) led the team in points as No. 17 Pepperdine picked up wins over Florida Atlantic and No. 9 North Carolina. The senior forward scored two goals and posted two assists on the week.
After going scoreless in the Waves’ first week of play, Williams broke through in the scoring column as she put up a one goal, two assist day against Florida Atlantic in the Waves’ 4-0 victory over the Owls. She then scored the game-winner in the 71st minute against storied North Carolina, hitting a strike into the upper right corner from outside the box, as Pepperdine took down the No. 9 Tar Heels, 1-0.
Williams’ six points on the week helped the Waves move to 4-0-0 on the year and give them their third straight shutout. She also moved into a tie for fourth on the Pepperdine career scoring list with 27 career goals.
Pepperdine hits the road for the first time this season as they head to Hawaii at the end of the week for games against Washington State and No. 1 UCLA.
