LeCave Named Co-WCC Player of the Week After Four-Goal Performance
Sophomore Amanda LeCave earns the honor for the first time in her career.
Sept. 3, 2012
MALIBU, Calif. - On the heels on a four-goal game in victory over Indiana, sophomore forward Amanda LeCave was named Co-West Coast Conference Player of the Week for September 3, 2012.
LeCave (Windsor, Calif./Windsor HS) shares the honor with Portland junior forward Amanda Frisbie, after she also scored four goals as the Pilots defeated Fresno State 5-0.
The honor is the first career Player of the Week nod for LeCave and is the first time this season a Wave has won the honor. Pepperdine went 1-1 last week, highlighted by a 5-0 rout of visiting Indiana on Sunday afternoon.
LeCave's four goals against Indiana rewrote the Pepperdine single-game scoring section of the record book, as she became the first Wave to ever score four goals in a game.
The subsequent eight points off the four goals is also a single-season Pepperdine record. She had a hat trick just 26 minutes into the game, marking the fastest hat trick ever by a Wave. Current assistant coach Jennifer Brewer was the last Wave to score a hat trick in a game.
LeCave leads the Waves with seven goals scored on the season and ranks first in the WCC in goals scored and points (14).
The Waves will be back in action on Friday in the Sun Desert Classic in Tempe, Ariz.
They will face Arizona in a 4:30 p.m. PT contest.
