Brielle Preece Named WCC Player of the Week
Preece and the Waves have given up a total of three goals in seven games so far this year.
MALIBU, Calif. – Pepperdine goalkeeper Brielle Preece was named the West Coast Conference’s Player of the Week after leading the Waves to a shutout victory on the road against Northwestern this past week.
It was the fourth shutout of the year for the redshirt junior as Pepperdine won 1-0 on Sunday against the defending Big 10 Champion Wildcats.
Preece (Livermore, Calif./Granada HS) made four big saves including one in the 87th minute to preserve the clean sheet. She gave up just one goal on the week in a tough 1-0 loss at DePaul, with the score coming off of a defensive giveaway in the box.
In her first year as the Pepperdine starter, Preece has a 0.42 goals against average, leading the WCC in that category and sitting 21st in the NCAA. Her four shutouts also rank first in the WCC and 14th in the NCAA.
The Waves are now 4-2-1 on the year and play two more games on the road this week, facing No. 1 UCLA on Friday night and UC Irvine on Sunday.
