Oct. 1, 2012
SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Pepperdine senior forward Callie Payetta is the West Coast Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week. Payetta scored the lone goal of the match - also her fifth career game-winner - to lift the Waves to a 1-0 upset of No. 5 Boston College Saturday in Massachusetts. Payetta scored the match's lone tally in the 48th minute. It was the first goal of the season for the Huntington Beach native.
With the selection, Payetta becomes the second Wave to earn WCC Player of the Week honors, joining Amanda LeCave, who recorded a four-goal outburst against Indiana in week three. Payetta and the Waves play Monday at Dartmouth.
Pepperdine opens the 2012 West Coast Conference season Sunday, October 7 at San Francisco. Match time against the Dons is set for 1:00 PM at Negoesco Stadium.
