MALIBU, Calif. - Junior midfielder/forward Ally Holtz of the Pepperdine women's soccer team earned her first West Coast Conference Player of the Week award after starring in the Waves' two victories this past weekend.
Holtz (Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou School) had a total of three goals (including both game-winners) and an assist as the Waves defeated Pacific (2-1) and Saint Mary's (3-1) at home.
The Pepperdine-Pacific game was scoreless at halftime on Friday when junior forward Lynn Williams (Fresno, Calif./Bullard HS), the WCC's leading scorer, left with an injury. She did not play on Sunday either. Holtz was the member of the team that stepped up most in her absence.
Pepperdine and Pacific were tied 1-1 late in the game when Holtz notched the game-winning goal in the 86th minute. On Sunday against the Gaels, Holtz assisted on the Waves' first goal, then scored the team's second and third goals.
Holtz entered the week having scored just two goals on the season, but now has totals of five goals and four assists for 14 points.
This is Pepperdine's second WCC Player of the Week award this season. Williams earned the honor back on September 2.
Pepperdine plays its final three regular-season games on the road, beginning Friday (Nov. 1) at San Francisco at 5 p.m. in a matchup that can be viewed on TheW.tv.
