Pepperdine was the only institution that had all its competing pairs go undefeated throughout opening day.
The Waves have two AVCA titles. This will be the first time the team battles for a NCAA Championship crown.
No. 3 Pepperdine will challenge top-seeded USC in the next round at 1 p.m. PT on Saturday.
