The Waves, the defending AVCA Collegiate Sand Volleyball National Championship, begin their second season on March 9 at 10 a.m.

Jon Dazé completed his second season as a volunteer assistant coach with the Pepperdine women's indoor and sand volleyball teams in 2013-14. He enters his third season on the sand in 2014-15.

He was recognized on the 2014 AVCA Thirty Under 30 list, which honors emerging coaching talent younger than 30 years old at all levels of volleyball. He was the only volunteer assistant coach recognized on this year's list, and just the second in the history of the award.

During the 2012-13 season, the Waves reached the NCAA Tournament for the 22nd time in the indoor program's history and finished runner-up at the 2013 AVCA Collegiate Sand Volleyball Championship.

The following year, Pepperdine won the 2014 AVCA Collegiate Sand Volleyball National Team Championship for the second time in three seasons.

In addition to his work with the Waves, Dazé has also collaborated with Marcio Sicoli in training 2016 Olympic hopefuls Kerri Walsh Jennings and April Ross.

Dazé, a 2006 graduate of UC San Diego, has been coaching volleyball for over 10 years at the club, high school and collegiate levels.

In 2012, Dazé completed his 10thseason as a club coach for Laguna Beach Volleyball Club, and has led his teams to four top-three finishes at national tournaments in his last four seasons. In 2008, his first year as a club head coach, Dazé led his U-15 team to a Junior Nationals silver medal finish.

After a coaching stint with Sports Shack Volleyball Club in 2013, Dazé became a founding member of Actyve Volleyball, a Santa Monica-based volleyball club. He coaches the 17-1 indoor team while serving as the director of the Actyve Beach program.

Dazé's experience coaching at the collegiate level includes stints at Concordia University and Irvine Valley College. He served as the top assistant for the Eagles for two seasons, including a semester as the interim head coach. While there, Dazé helped produce five AVCA NAIA All-Americans.

During the 2011 season, he served as assistant coach for Corona del Mar girls' varsity squad. The team finished the season as CIF Division I-AA finalists.

As a player, Dazé was a standout outside hitter at Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana. He played two seasons at Irvine Valley College, earning all-conference and team MVP honors both years. He went on to play at UCSD and later overseas in Denmark and Sweden.

Dazé will complete his masters' degree in educational psychology from Pepperdine in the spring of 2015.
