Roh, Knudsen Garner AVCA All-American Honors
Roh and Knudsen competed in the No. 1 position for the Waves through the 2017 campaign.
MALIBU, Calif. – Delaney Knudsen and Madalyn Roh, of the 2nd-ranked Pepperdine beach volleyball team, garnered AVCA Collegiate Beach Volleyball All-American honors as released by the American Volleyball Coaches Association on Thursday afternoon.
Seven different schools were represented in this year’s class. The 2017 selections were made by the AVCA Beach Volleyball All-American Committee: chairperson Beth Van Fleet (Georgia State), Kristen Rohr (Grand Canyon), Wayne Holly (Tulane), Capri Grotowski (FAU), Jeff Hall (Hawai’i), Anna Collier (Southern California).
No. 1-pair, Knudsen (Valencia, Calif./Valencia HS) and Roh (Scottsdale, Ariz./Chaparral HS) led the Waves in the top-spot throughout the season’s 32 dual matches, helping the team earn a spot in the NCAA National Championship match against top-ranked USC in Gulf Shores, Ala. The duo amassed a 20-12 overall record and a 45-31 overall record by sets, while posting an even 10-10 record against nationally ranked opposition. Knudsen and Roh eaqrned DiG Player of the Week status in the awards premier week early in the season and recently competed in the USAV Collegiate Beach Pairs Championships in Hermosa Beach, Calif. Knudsen, a senior, graduated in May. Roh will return next season as a junior.
